Anger Control Workbook by Matthew McKay - book - The ever-escalating costs of anger are well documented: sabotaging careers, alienating friends and family, triggering illness, causing bodily harm. Written by two well-regarded experts in the field, The Anger Control Workbook introduces a new and radically simplified approach to anger control. Step-by-step exercises will aid readers in identifying, understanding, responding to, and ultimately coping with their hostile feelings. "Half the anger battle can be won by simply learning to relax the physical tension that develops in provocative situations.

Anger Kills: Seventeen Strategies for Controlling the Hostility That Can Harm Your Health by Redford Williams - book - This clearly written book is a continuation and elaboration of Redford Williams's earlier work, The Trusting Heart (Times Bks., 1989), in which he described recent scientific evidence linking hostile thinking and behavior to cardiovascular risk. In Anger Kills , the authors convincingly describe the damage that cynicism, anger, and aggression can do to personal health and to interpersonal relationships.

Anger Management for Dummies by W Doyle - book - If your anger, or that of a loved one, is out of control and threatening your life and livelihood, you need the calm, clear, and understanding help you’ll find in Anger Management For Dummies. This concise and practical guidebook shares specific anger management methods, skills, and exercises that will help you identify the sources of your anger and release yourself from their grip.

Anger: The Seven Deadly Sins by Robert A.F. Thurman - book - Anger has lost status since the 1960s, when it was imperative to let it all hang out. Now Buddhist scholar-teacher Thurman sees nothing good about anger, not even--indeed, perhaps especially--when it is the motor that drives soldiers into combat. He allows, however, that anger's burning energy "cannot be avoided altogether," but can we not purge anger yet retain its fire "to burn away the suffering of others?"

Anger Trap: Free Yourself from the Frustrations that Sabotage Your Life by Les Carter - book - "The life-changing message of this book...is so important..." ---Audrey DeLaMartre, The Phoenix and Steps For Recovery

Anger: Wisdom for Cooling the Flames by Thich Nhat Hanh - book - In an age of road rage, Americans would do well to cool down with prolific Buddhist monk Hanh (Living Buddha, Living Christ). There is plenty in this small volume worth skipping, such as Hanh's tedious call for "Healing the Wounded Child Within." And some of his advice is banal (e.g., if a husband is angry at his wife, he should tell her). But some of Hanh's suggestions cut refreshingly against the grain. He dissents, for example, from the popular therapeutic wisdom to "express our anger": when we beat a pillow to get rid of our feelings, he insists we are merely "rehearsing" our anger, not "reducing" it.

Anger Workbook: A 13-Step Interactive Plan to Help You by Les Carter - book - This is the only anger management system we've found that offers interactive exercises to help readers understand and modify their own behavior. Whether your anger is from tension at work, frustration at home, or just life in general - this workbook will help you identify and modify the anger that keeps you from inner peace and contentment.

Beyond Anger: A Guide for Men: How to Free Yourself from the Grip of Anger and Get More Out of Life by Thomas Harbin - book - Men tend to express their anger differently than women do. Research shows men are often more violent and less willing to confront and deal with their emotions than women. Written by a psychologist who specializes in the treatment of male rage, Beyond Anger shows the angry - and miserable - man how to change his life and relationships for the better. This book helps men understand their anger by explaining what the specific symptoms of chronic anger are and by showing angry men how their actions negatively affect family, friends, and coworkers. It helps men control violent feelings by using simple exercises - developed especially for men - to identify when and why anger occurs and by helping them form new habits to prevent anger before it starts. Women, too, will learn essential strategies for understanding and helping the angry men in their lives. Beyond Anger is honest, tough, and real.

Destructive Emotions: A Scientific Dialogue with the Dalai Lama by Daniel Goleman - book - Destructive Emotions: How Can We Overcome Them? A Scientific Dialogue with the Dalai Lama forcefully puts to rest the misconception that the realms of science and spirituality are at odds. In this extraordinary book, Daniel Goleman presents dialogues between the Dalai Lama and a small group of eminent psychologists, neuroscientists, and philosophers that probe the challenging questions: Can the worlds of science and philosophy work together to recognize destructive emotions such as hatred, craving, and delusion? If so, can they transform those feelings for the ultimate improvement of humanity? As the Dalai Lama explains, "With the ever-growing impact of science on our lives, religion and spirituality have a greater role to play in reminding us of our humanity."

Healing Anger: The Power of Patience from a Buddhist Perspective by Dalai Lama - book - Winner of the 1989 Nobel Peace Prize, the Dalai Lama discusses the subject of patience, drawing on a chapter from an important Buddhist classic, Shantideva's "Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life." He helps readers examine how anger arises to destroy much that is positive and good, proposing that gentleness is fundamental to human nature. Through active self-discipline, and not meekness as is commonly misunderstood, we can transform anger through compassion and to be reconciled with ourselves and others.  Healing Emotions: Conversations with the Dalai Lama on Mindfulness, Emotions, and Health by Daniel Goleman - book - Can the mind heal the body? The Buddhist tradition says yes—and now many Western scientists are beginning to agree. Healing Emotions is the record of an extraordinary series of encounters between the Dalai Lama and prominent Western psychologists, physicians, and meditation teachers that sheds new light on the mind-body connection. Topics include: compassion as medicine; the nature of consciousness; self-esteem; and the meeting points of mind, body, and spirit. This edition contains a new foreword by the editor.

How to Take the Grrr Out of Anger by Elizabeth Verdick - book - Anger is a part of life. We can’t avoid it, we shouldn’t stuff it, and we can’t make it go away. Kids need help learning how to manage their anger. This book speaks directly to kids and offers strategies they can start using immediately. Blending tips and ideas with jokes and funny cartoons, it guides kids to understand that anger is normal and can be expressed in many ways—some healthy, some not.

Shaman of Tibet: Milarepa-From Anger to Enlightenment 1040-1143 A.D. by Winged Wolf - book - Rayes of Light: "The search for enlightenment can take any form, any path imaginable, yet all seekers arrive at the same ultimate Realization. Shaman of Tibet chronicles the most unusual journey to enlightenment of the great Tibetan master, Milarepa. Interestingly, this book reads like an autobiography, although Milarepa lived almost one thousand years ago. Winged Wolf was clearly inspired by Milarepa himself, from whatever level of reality he is presently occupying.

Violence and Compassion: Dialogues on Life Today by Carriere, Dalai Lama - book - This book records the conversation that screenwriter Carriere (The Unbearable Lightness of Being) held with the Dalai Lama, the exiled leader of Tibetan Buddhism, in 1993. The topics covered range from exile and reincarnation to education and science. In each dialog, Carriere questions the Dalai Lama about the meaningfulness of Tibetan Buddhism in the world today. The Dalai Lama's responses are often playful, but they alsoare filled with the penetrating insight we have come to expect from this wise religious leader. Unfortunately, Carriere too often dominates the conversation with his naive questions, sometimes even presuming to answer the question for the Dalai Lama. Not recommended.
